Federal Firearms License
Backroad Armory LLC holds a Federal Firearms License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. FFL # XX-XXX-XXXXX-XX-XXX. A copy of our license is available on request and is sent directly to any dealer shipping a firearm to us.
Background checks
Every firearm transaction includes ATF Form 4473 and a NICS background check, completed before the firearm changes hands. There are no exceptions, no “friend of a friend” deals, and no holding a firearm for someone who isn’t the buyer.
Michigan requirements
Michigan handgun purchases require the Michigan Pistol Sales Record (RI-060) and valid Michigan photo identification showing your current address. Purchasers must be 21 or older for handguns and 18 or older for long guns. Michigan law governs registration and purchase-license requirements; we’ll walk you through the paperwork at the table.
Prohibited purchasers
Federal law prohibits firearm possession by anyone convicted of a felony, subject to certain restraining orders, dishonorably discharged, adjudicated mentally defective, unlawfully using controlled substances, or otherwise disqualified under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g). Falsifying Form 4473 is a federal felony.
Straw purchases
Buying a firearm for someone else is a federal crime, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. If you are not the actual buyer, we will not complete the sale. We reserve the right to refuse any transaction, at our discretion, without explanation.
Safe storage
Michigan law requires firearms to be stored unloaded and locked, or with a locking device, in any home where a minor is likely to be present. We stock cases, safes and locks — ask us and we’ll point you at something that fits how you actually live.
Youth Handgun Safety Act notice
The misuse of handguns is a leading contributor to juvenile violence and fatalities. Safely storing and securing firearms away from children and careless adults is every gun owner’s responsibility. Federal law prohibits, except in limited circumstances, anyone under 18 from possessing a handgun or any person from transferring a handgun to a person under 18; violations may be punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
