Backroad Armory LLC (“we,” “us”) operates backroadarmory.com. This policy explains how we handle information from people who visit the site, send us an inquiry, or buy from us. We keep it short and plain because you shouldn’t need a lawyer to read a privacy policy.
Information you give us
When you fill out a contact form, an FFL transfer request, or a product inquiry, we collect what you type: your name, email address, phone number, and whatever details you include about the firearm or transfer. If you call or email us directly, we keep that correspondence.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records basic technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and the site that referred you. This comes from server logs and, if enabled, analytics software. It tells us which pages people actually read. It does not tell us who you are.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep the site working — remembering that you passed the age verification screen, keeping form entries from vanishing, and supporting basic analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; parts of the site may behave oddly if you do.
How we use your information
We use it to answer your question, quote a firearm, arrange a transfer, complete a sale, and keep the records federal and state law require us to keep. That’s the whole list. We do not send marketing email unless you ask us to, and we do not build advertising profiles.
What we never do
We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise hand over your personal information to third parties for their own marketing. Not to data brokers, not to advertisers, not to anybody. Given what we sell, we treat customer lists as something to protect, not something to monetize.
When we do share information
Limited and specific cases only:
- Service providers who keep the site running — our web host, email provider, and form software. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for anything else.
- Licensed dealers involved in a transfer you requested, when we need to coordinate a shipment.
- Law enforcement and regulators where required — including ATF inspection of bound-book and Form 4473 records, valid subpoenas, court orders, or a legal obligation we cannot refuse.
Firearms transaction records
Federal law requires licensed dealers to complete and retain ATF Form 4473 and an acquisition-and-disposition record for every firearm transaction, and Michigan requires the Pistol Sales Record (RI-060) for handgun sales. These records contain personal information, are retained for the periods the law specifies, and are available to ATF for inspection. This is a legal obligation — it is not covered by the choices below, and we cannot delete these records on request.
How long we keep things
Form submissions and email correspondence are kept as long as they’re useful for serving you, then deleted. Firearms transaction records are kept for the period federal and state law require, regardless of any deletion request.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS on managed hosting with regular backups and access controls. Paper records are stored securely at our premises. No system is perfect, and we won’t pretend otherwise — but we take this seriously, because the consequences of a firearms customer list leaking are not abstract.
Your choices
Email us at backroadarmory@gmail.com and you can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete what we aren’t legally required to keep, or stop contacting you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act — we’ll honor those requests regardless of your state. We will never charge you or treat you differently for asking.
Age restriction
This site is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 to use it, and 21 to purchase a handgun. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we delete it.
Third-party links
We sometimes link to manufacturers, show organizers or other dealers. Once you leave our site, their privacy practices apply, not ours. Read theirs.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted plainly rather than buried.
